Research summary
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone, comprising the full 44-amino-acid GHRH sequence with a trans-3-hexenoyl group attached to the N-terminal tyrosine. That modification is the whole point of the molecule: native GHRH is cleaved within minutes by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 at the Tyr1-Ala2 bond, and the hexenoyl cap sterically blocks that cleavage, substantially extending the peptide's half-life. As a GHRH receptor agonist it acts at the pituitary somatotroph rather than downstream, and research uses it to study episodic, feedback-preserved growth hormone release — a different experimental proposition from administering exogenous hGH. Published work characterises receptor binding at GHRHR, downstream cAMP signalling, and the pulsatile secretion patterns produced under GHRH-analogue stimulation. It is among the better-characterised compounds in this class. Purity is confirmed by RP-HPLC and identity by LC-MS, with the batch certificate published and searchable by lot number.
Handling & reconstitution
Supplied as a lyophilised powder, typically as a loose cake. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water directed down the vial wall. Tesamorelin dissolves readily but is sensitive to mechanical stress — swirl gently and do not shake or vortex, as the 44-residue chain will denature at an aggressively agitated air-liquid interface. The solution should be clear. Discard if cloudy or particulate.
Storage
Lyophilised: -20 °C, sealed and protected from light and moisture. Reconstituted: 2–8 °C and used within approximately two to three weeks — a shorter window than the metabolic analogues. Tesamorelin is among the less stable peptides in the catalogue once in solution, and it degrades measurably with time at refrigerated temperature. Protect from light throughout and do not freeze the reconstituted vial.
