Research summary
Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue — Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 — that acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the same receptor targeted by endogenous ghrelin. It is the most selective member of the GHRP family, and that selectivity is the reason it dominates the research literature in this class. Where earlier secretagogues such as GHRP-6 and hexarelin produce meaningful cross-activation of ACTH, cortisol and prolactin pathways, published work characterises ipamorelin as releasing growth hormone with minimal effect on those axes. That makes it the preferred tool compound when a study needs to isolate GHS-R1a signalling from the confounding hormonal noise the older peptides introduce. In-vitro studies examine receptor binding affinity and downstream signalling; preclinical models are used to characterise pulsatile release kinetics. Purity is determined by RP-HPLC and identity confirmed by LC-MS, with batch-linked analytical data published for every lot.
Handling & reconstitution
Supplied as a lyophilised powder. Bring the vial to room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water added down the inner wall. As a pentapeptide, ipamorelin is one of the easier compounds in the catalogue to work with — it dissolves in seconds with gentle swirling and is comparatively forgiving of handling.
