Research summary
HGH Fragment 176-191 is the unmodified C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone, comprising the final sixteen residues of the 191-amino-acid parent hormone. It is the parent sequence from which AOD-9604 was derived, and the two are frequently studied alongside one another to isolate what the added N-terminal tyrosine contributes to stability and activity. The fragment attracted research attention because the lipolytic domain of hGH was mapped to this region while the somatogenic and diabetogenic activities were mapped elsewhere in the molecule. In-vitro work uses adipocyte preparations to characterise its effect on fat metabolism independent of growth hormone receptor signalling and IGF-1 induction. Comparative studies against intact hGH remain the main context in which it appears in the literature. Every lot is assayed by RP-HPLC and confirmed by LC-MS, with batch-specific chromatograms published and verifiable against the vial.
Handling & reconstitution
Supplied lyophilised. Bring the vial to room temperature before reconstituting. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water added slowly against the inner wall. The fragment is short and highly soluble; gentle swirling for twenty to thirty seconds is sufficient. Avoid vigorous agitation, which serves no purpose here and only risks surface denaturation. Expect a clear, colourless solution.
Storage
Lyophilised: -20 °C in the sealed vial, kept dry. Stable at ambient temperature for the duration of normal shipping. Reconstituted: 2–8 °C, used within approximately four weeks. The unmodified fragment is marginally less stable in solution than AOD-9604, so it benefits from being kept cold and used promptly rather than held near the end of that window.
