Research summary
BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide — fifteen amino acids — corresponding to a partial sequence of Body Protection Compound, a protein isolated from human gastric juice. Its defining physical property is unusual among peptides: it is stable in human gastric acid, where most peptides of comparable length are degraded within minutes. That stability is what made oral and gastrointestinal research models practical. The published literature is largely preclinical and concentrated in tissue-repair models across tendon, ligament, muscle, bone and gastrointestinal mucosa. Mechanistic work describes upregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 and downstream angiogenic signalling, interaction with the nitric oxide system, and modulation of focal adhesion kinase and paxillin pathways governing fibroblast migration. Its effects on gut-barrier integrity and on the gut-brain axis form a separate and active line of investigation. Every lot is assayed by RP-HPLC for purity and confirmed by LC-MS for identity, with the chromatograms and mass spectra published against the batch number printed on the vial.
Handling & reconstitution
Supplied as a lyophilised powder. Bring the vial to room temperature before opening so that condensation does not settle into the cake. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water added slowly down the inner wall. BPC-157 is highly water-soluble and dissolves within seconds under gentle swirling — one of the more forgiving compounds in the catalogue. No warming, sonication or vigorous agitation is needed, and none is advisable. The finished solution should be clear and colourless.
Storage
Lyophilised: -20 °C, sealed and dry. The dry peptide is notably robust and tolerates ambient shipping temperatures without measurable loss. Reconstituted: 2–8 °C, used within approximately four to six weeks. BPC-157 is among the more stable peptides here in aqueous solution. Keep it refrigerated between uses and protected from light; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycling, and aliquot before freezing if longer storage is required.
