Research summary
ARA-290, also referred to as cibinetide, is an 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the helix B domain of erythropoietin — specifically the face of the molecule that is exposed on the outside of the folded protein and does not participate in classical EPO receptor binding. That design is the point. Erythropoietin has a well-documented tissue-protective activity that is separate from its haematopoietic activity, mediated by a distinct heteromeric receptor formed by the EPO receptor and the beta-common receptor subunit, often called the innate repair receptor. ARA-290 was constructed to engage that receptor without engaging the homodimeric EPO receptor, and therefore without the erythropoietic and haemodynamic effects that make EPO itself unusable as a tissue-protection tool. Published research concentrates on neuropathic and small-fibre models, inflammatory signalling and metabolic endpoints. Every lot is verified by RP-HPLC and LC-MS, with the batch certificate published against the vial's lot number.
Handling & reconstitution
Supplied lyophilised. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water added slowly down the inner wall. ARA-290 is a short, well-behaved sequence and dissolves readily with gentle swirling within a minute. No warming or sonication is required. The reconstituted solution should be clear and colourless; discard if it is not.
Storage
Lyophilised: -20 °C, sealed and dry, protected from light. Reconstituted: 2–8 °C, used within approximately four weeks. ARA-290 is reasonably stable in solution for a peptide of its length. Keep it refrigerated between uses, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycling, and aliquot before freezing if the vial will not be used within the refrigerated window.
